C&N Electrical Services Projects 7

As this project comes to the end we are looking at what we have learnt and what we can improve on, to ensure we continue to deliver the quality and service the clients deserve.

This particular project involved all aspects from our company including large power distribution, Solar & battery storage, electric car chargers, door entry & security, Ethernet network, and lights & power. All from one supplier.

Thanks to Medisave UK Ltd and Mildren Construction Ltd who have been fantastic to work with.

This work was part of a new build commercial warehouse, the project in its entirety included light and power installation to the warehouse, offices, reception, WC’s and staff rooms. The project also included the installation of solar panels and battery storage. To complete the rewiring and testing of the existing assets we firstly had to arrange a date in which the equipment was not to be used and arrange how long the assists could be out of service for. This was done via a site meeting. It was arranged that we would work on the assist one at a time so as there was always one in service. Once one assist was rewired and tested, we could move onto the others.

The approach to this project was much like other projects we carry out, having initial conversations with the client and using our experience to predict any unforeseen events. The client benefits from this work was that the two fork lift charging sockets were in a dedicated secure room and the electric vehicle socket was moved to a dedicated parking space. An issue that we raised before the work was to begin was that the existing electric vehicle charge socket was not to the same specification as an additional new socket, also planned to be installed as part of the project. This meant that the communications between the sockets and the solar PV installation would not work and so the socket would work on a stand alone basis. It was decided the assist would be replaced to match the spec of the new socket. Compliance was achieved by working to EARA, BS7671, PPE and the 5th edition of the EVCP IET code of practice. Testing was also conducted to these regulations and an electrical installation certificate was issued.
